China Issues New Guidelines for Neurological Medical Service Pricing
The National Healthcare Security Administration (NHSA) of China has recently released new trial guidelines for neurological medical service pricing projects, marking a significant step in deepening healthcare service price reform.
According to the guidelines, the current neurological pricing system has been reorganized into:
- 82 basic service items
- 24 additional charge items
- 8 expanded items
This restructuring is part of China's broader initiative to standardize medical service pricing nationwide. The NHSA will guide provincial healthcare security bureaus to implement these guidelines based on local conditions and establish unified price benchmarks for their regions.
Local administrative areas with pricing authority will then be able to adjust actual prices within a specified range above or below these provincial benchmarks.
This move follows the "Implementation Plan for Deepening Medical Service Price Reform" and references the 2023 Medical Service Technical Specifications. The initiative adopts a gradual approach, following the principle of "release as items mature."
The reform aims to create a more standardized and transparent pricing system for neurological medical services across China, ultimately contributing to more efficient healthcare delivery and improved cost management.
